From Columbus, Ohio –

Overshadowed by the campaign work going on for Tuesday’s primaries in five states, Republicans selected more delegates for their national convention on Saturday, and the winner was not Donald Trump, as he picked up only a single delegate from Wyoming, Washington, D.C., and Guam.

Instead, the overall victor was Marco Rubio, who added 11 delegates, followed by Ted Cruz at 10, and John Kasich at 9. There were also 9 delegates left uncommitted.

As the numbers show, Rubio won Washington, D.C., while Cruz won in Wyoming and Guam – though in Guam, most of the delegates remained uncommitted.

The single delegate day for Trump – he won just 1 of 40 – means that he has now received about 42 percent of the GOP delegates so far.

That certainly could go up on Tuesday with the following five states:

Florida – 99 delegates – Winner-take-all

North Carolina – 72 delegates – Proportional

Illinois – 69 delegates – Overall winner takes 15 delegates, others handed out by individual delegate elections in 18 Congressional districts.

Ohio – 66 delegates – Winner-take-all

Missouri – 52 delegates – Overall winner gets 12 statewide delegates, the rest handed out to winner in each of 8 Congressional districts.
